The Aripo cottage is built on one of several ridges in the verdant Aripo valley of the Northern range of Trinidad, and just nine miles north of the town of Arima – which was so named by the Amerindians because of the abundance of water found in the area. The resort itself is part of a ten acre cocoa estate which is partially reclaimed by lush rainforest. “A view of a lifetime” is how Gary Alleng describes the beauty that surrounds him, the beauty that caused him to transform his dream into reality when he built Aripo Cottage.

The grounds include a sanctuary for birds and wild animals. The Aripo River with its impressive limestone formations, waterfalls, and several pools of crystal clear water, in addition to the cottage pool which is supplied with water from the natural springs, awaits the less adventurous. A guide can be made available on request for those who enjoy hiking, or are interested in visiting the Jabloteh (Oil Birds) which inhabit the Aripo caves…

Awaken to the sounds of numerous forest birds which come within viewing distance, also the beautiful butterflies which flutter among the flowers of several fruit trees such as avocado, sapodilla, cashmere oranges, paw paw, bananas, breadfruit, and the remaining cocoa trees in addition to the flowers of the resort’s gardens.
